...and i think many different kinds of people have been really good and important friends to me, so it's hard to articulate a set list of things. but in general, some things that are important to me in a friend are:
- an openness to things existing beyond this space and time? or at the very least a willingness to acknowledge the possibility. an ongoing relationship to my ancestors and spirit guides is a large and ever-growing part of my life, and it makes me feel cared for when my friends acknowledge that and take it seriously, not as a metaphor but as an actual and dynamic relationship/practice that i'm inside of
- a willingness to listen and not fix, unless the fixing's actively called for
- a hatred of police, prisons, and the u.s. state :) (or at least an interest in knowing more, an openness to the idea that these things should and will not exist forever/unchallenged)
- hmm i am thinking about...being down to revise, check in, approach relating not as a static thing but smth always in motion
- an openness to learning and adjusting with the ways disability shows up for me and others//flexible expectations around the pace of how people's bodies and minds move
would love to hear more about what feels important for u too ~
